Disney Florida #Flashback Friday

I have been enjoying joining in with Flashback Friday for the past few weeks and this weeks picture was one I came across while looking for something else in one of my Photo files. It makes me smile each time I see it for so many reasons. The first is the cheeky grin, but when you see the other photos with it you realise that he was being instructed by the photographer so that she could get him to pose in a certain way.

Ok, so the story behind the picture is that we were on the boys first trip to Florida, one we had been planning since I was pregnant, so 5 years. One we had dreamt about, and just couldn’t wait. We were married in Florida and have been lucky at this point to be making trip number 4 to Disney.

So the weather, well imaging the weather we have just been having with rain and storms every 4 days, water ankle-deep and constant for over 10 hours each day! Not what you expect in Florida, and not the holiday we were expecting. This picture is special then for two reasons the first, its wasnt raining when it was taken. The second it was Mothers Day (in the UK) not the US and my boy, and Hubby had a special treat meal booked.

This is Main Street with Cinderella’s Castle, and the boy who loved shirts and ties is in my favourite of his outfits, which I bought for him at Christmas. He posed so well for each of the shots, and we had no clue what she was up too. This was our first experience of some of the special effects they add to your pictures.

Tinkerbell!! Yes the boy was less than impressed, “She’s a fairy!” “I wasn’t holding her!” but she is in the picture and then 4 1/2 he couldn’t work out quite how she got there!

Priceless moment, and with just 200 days till visit number 6 for us 3 for the boy, one of the things I will be booking in advance is my Disney Photo pass. just for the moments like this that I get to keep forever.

Dobble is a great family card game available from Amazon from RRP £12.99. If you have never heard of Dobble until now you are not alone as up till January neither had I. When I was visiting the London Toy Fair with Mary from Over 40 and Mum to One we were invited to give it a try, with mixed results! This game reached the dizzy heights of 27 in the game chart last Christmas, I think it will be set to beat that in 2014 as one of the simplest but fun and handy card games I have tried.

Dobble is a round tin containing 55 cards, each with eight symbols (pictures) with only one symbol shared between any two cards. Yes that is it, but here is where the fun starts, with several different variations of how to play lets start with:

Mini Game #1

Shuffle the cards place one face down in front of each player, make the rest of the pile the draw pile, face up in the middle. The object of the game is to shout out the pair of symbols in common with your card. First to shout out wins, and the person with the most cards at the end is the winner.

Dobble Mini Game 1

There are 5 mini games in total and our family favourite is hot potato! Each variation of the game is fun and fast, and can be played with lots of age ranges as you can adapt the rules to suit. Dobble is recommended for 2-8 players ages 6+ but we think this is flexible and you could play in teams, as well as letting the younger ones play snap with the cards.

Dobble will be coming on holiday with us in October, as it will be ideal as the queuing boredom buster, and even Bingo Granny couldn’t complain about the simplicity of learning this new game. Dobble is also available for download in the i-tunes store, and can be played on i devices, with Android and even Facebook versions on their way. Beware! I have found this game highly addictive and so will you, it could even be the new Flappy Birds.

If you would like the chance to find out more about Dobble, have a look at their Facebook page, Esdevium on twitter or buy online from Amazon below.
