Ravensburger Minion Puzzles – Review

The Minions are coming!
If you hadn’t noticed Britain has gone Minion crazy and with the film set for release on 26th June you don’t have long to wait for more antics from Stuart, Kevin and Bob. Ravensburger have a fantastic range of movie exclusive puzzles and we have been asked to review three of the new 3D Minion puzzles for you.

We decided to try out the two 3D mini Minions Puzzles first, these cost RRP £9.99 each and have 54 pieces to make up the globe shape puzzle. Recommended for ages 7-99, I was interested to see how the boy would get on with these. Like all Ravensburger 3D puzzles the Minion Puzzles come with numbered sturdy plastic pieces, so there are two ways to complete the puzzle. Either the traditional way by following the picture clues, or by finding the numbers and arrows on the inside. The boy decided to start the Pirate Minion puzzle with the numbers, and soon had the start of the globe shape. It was easy for him to complete, and even the last piece fitted surprisingly easily.

The second Minion puzzle is called “London” and this one the boy decided to complete via picture, and he admitted afterwards that this was a much more interesting way to complete a puzzle. The 3D Minion puzzle comes with a coloured paper picture of all six mini pictures around the globe shaped puzzle, and this made completion very easy. Each puzzle also has a small yellow plastic cupped stand so you can display your finished puzzle. The finished puzzle is 7cm across, and can be popped neatly back in the cube box for storage.

Next we completed the 72 piece 3D Minion puzzle which cost RRP £10.95 and is suitable for ages 6-10. The finished puzzle is 13cm across and with bigger pieces than the mini Minion puzzles is much easier to complete. Again there are six mini pictures around the globe shaped puzzle, this time of the Minions having fun in tropical dress! We found this puzzle so much easier to complete than the mini puzzles and have to agree younger children would have no problem with this puzzle.

I was very impressed with how these globe puzzles fit together. I thought there might be problems fitting pieces or bits dropping out, and was convinced the final piece would be tricky. But I was wrong, they all clicked together easily with minimal readjustments. The boy loved these puzzles, and they were the perfect distraction while waiting for food in a restaurant, the staff were intrigued too! The boy has loved these puzzles and has been telling all his friends at school about them. We liked the Mini Minon puzzles the best although they are a little pricey, they were perfect for popping in my bag on days out, and I would defiantly get some more as gifts for friends.
