National Bear Day
I started today hoping to get lots done, blog posts to be written, housework to do and lots of cleaning. But what I actually got done, before 1pm anyway was looking through Twitter and playing with Instagram! This is where I saw the tweet about National Bear Day and lead me to dusting off my Nan’s old bear and posting him on Twitter. I’m sure when he was made long before there was such a thing as twitter (other than a noise made by birds) he had no idea he would be round the world in an instant. So how things have changed, and there are lots of changes in the Soup Dragon House too.
So let me introduce Flip Flop, I have no idea where he was made, and don’t think he has any value, but he is well-loved. He came with the name, and all I know is he was given to my Nan by an admirer. He has been my life long friend and when my Nan died became just a little bit more special. He has a new friend today Hola yes this is the newest member of the house, and despite the fact the boy is nearly 8 has travelled with us on all our summer adventures. He is special to the boy because he was given by the Headmistress of the Infants school to remind him of his time there before he left and joined the Junior school. The boy thinks its great to have a bear called Hello, so he can say “Hola” Hola!
I think everyone should have a special bear in their life, I’m glad I still don’t have the 300+ that I had in my bedroom at one point. I know I could never be parted from the few I have left, and the boy has a small collection now too.
My Friend over at Over 40 Mum to One also has a lovely bear story have a look at Grandpa Bear.
Now, that is a well-loved bear! How wonderful that you still have him.

He is very special as seen some hard times!
That’s such a lovely story, and thank you for the mention. I love the name Hola for a bear too – my parents and their friends would be very impressed.
