Tractor Ted in Springtime

Springtime is a great time of year to get children excited about the world around them and especially how their food is grown. Tractor Ted is a cartoon character who tells children about farming and helps them to explore the farmyard without getting muddy! With real footage of farming machinery and animals, Tractor Ted is an inspiration to get kids growing for themselves.

Spring & Veg The New book Tractor Ted in Springtime RRP £4.99 is a colourful picture book with easy to follow pictures and information. The boy and I have always loved watching programmes with big machines, and while he is a bit to old to be watching Tractor Ted I know he would have loved this when he was younger. Tractor ted is suggested for children aged 2-6 and with plenty to interest children for early years learning

Come and have a look at the jumping lambs, muddy piglets and beautiful foals.  Lots of machines are used in springtime including the mower, forage harvester, hedgecutters and more.  This book even has fun games to play too!

The Tractor Ted series also has a range of DVD’s available including Harvest Vegetables RRP £9.99. I love this series of child friendly films with the voice over from Ted1 himself. These fun films of everyday activities on the farm explain in an easy way all the different tasks that tractors do daily on the farm. With the cute addition animals there is something for girls and boys in every episode.

Les gets a puncture which has to be repaired before work can begin, and the waste from the children’s vegetable garden is taken away for recycling. Enjoy a visit to the farm shop to see a cake being made from carrots. No better way to get children into veg and growing their own!

Tractor Ted is the creation of two friends, mother-of-three Alexandra Heard and Somerset organic farmer, David Horler, whose children all loved to watch the real machines at work on the farm when they were young. Ted is now 11 years old and there is a series of 17 DVDs and 11 books (including activity books) which take children on a wonderful journey into the British countryside where they can learn about big machines, how to look after animals, where our food comes from and the seasons.

To find out more about Tractor Ted then why not visit their Facebook, twitter pages or the website where you can also find activities for your kids to enjoy.

About the author

  1. Tractors for me because they come in all shapes and sizes and can go really fast or really slow! There is a cute little blue one in the farm close to us that whizzes round the fields! My boys always shout ‘Tractor Trevor’ when they see it as the farmer there is called Trevor!

  2. When I was a child I used to love watching the milking machinery, my daughter enjoys sitting behind the wheel of a tractor, we have family in farming so have lots of fun on the farm

  3. I love the massive combine harvesters. Used to watch them in the field during harvesting time. They are amazing

  4. What is your favourite farmyard machine and why?
combine harvesters – they make a complex operation look so simple

  5. I always think of Tractors when I think of farming, so I would say tractors are my favourite

  6. Combine harvesters, theres a massive farm behind my mums house and each year we watch the harvest. Last year was the first time my son got to see it too.

  7. We live in the countryside and spot the tractor is a popular game to play on a car journey, so it has to be tractors I think.

  8. Tractors for us too. Mind you not such a fan when the ground is very uneven and they take you on a ride across the field at what feels like 90 miles an hour because your butt is raising off the hay bale too much (I’m sitting there thinking, should of worn a sports bra!) …. apologies for the ramble.

  9. The stunning Ropa Tiger beet harvester!! It’s an awesome piece of machinery, a 6 wheeled machine with a 29 ton capacity holding tank – absolutely amazing 🙂 xx

  10. Combine Harvester. They look so exciting when they are doing their job in the fields plus I love” I’ve Got a Brand New Combine Harvester” by the Wurzels!!

  11. Terragators as they put all the fertiliser out, but also cos they have a really cool name that sounds like a dinosaur

  12. The combine harvester ! my mum loves watching them at work so of course we used to go and watch with her making it my favourite – now my niece and nephew go and watch too – something really clever i always think.

  13. Combine Harvester as I used to love watching them on the fields when I was small now I just get fed up when I’m stuck behind them in traffic

  14. I love to watch the combines at work. So clever 🙂 My grandchildren like all sorts of farm machinery but tractors in particular 🙂

  15. Tactors as my son has always loved them and now he is older he has studied argrecutrial engineering, he loves them that much

  16. Combine harvester, there is nothing as nice as seeing it’s big beaming lights on early morning

  17. My little boy loves tractors because they are ‘cool’. He enjoys watching them use the bucket attachment to lift the feed for the animals.

I like them as they slow down crazy drivers on the road 🙂

  18. Hay-Lorry! Me and my brother used to go and stay on our Uncles farm, he was well into his eighties and would let us ride on the top while he drove us to the local market!! It was the scariest thing in the world, but I will never forget holding on for dear life, while the cars would beep and the wind would be blowing bits of hay into your eyes, I would love to go back and do it again! lol

  19. Tractors of course-a source of fascination for my little boy, if it’s good enough for him, I like it too!

  20. Tractors! My son lives in Norwich. It’s the only city I know where a tractor can be going down the main road and no-one raises an eyebrow. as a Birmingham lass I find this so exciting and I want to drive one!

  21. Tractors, I just love the way my son used to pronounce the word “Tractor” when he was little.
