We have been getting ready for World Book Day which this year falls on Thursday the 6th of March. The first thing I had to do was find the boy a costume. Perfect Party UK came to the rescue with the largest selection of fancy dress I have come across online.
The boy and I usually forget all about dressing up to celebrate World Book Day. Past outfits have included going as Biff, from Biff and Chip which involved me temporary dyeing the boy’s hair brown. It went pink and stayed for weeks much to the amusement of the head teacher who has pink hair herself. Last year the boy went as Indiana Jones, ok not really a book, but at 7.30am on the day, you have to go with whatever is in the house, and a waist coat was the perfect prop. Others include farmers, pirates, and I think one year we completely forgot!
This year we have a plan, we have been looking at Bugsy Malone, a book and film I remember fondly from my childhood. The boy was very excited at the prospect of being a gangster, and when the outfit arrived didn’t hesitate trying it on. I have been informed you have to practice dying if you are a gangster, I think the boy was pretty good at this.
The gangster outfit from Perfect Party UK came as a 5 piece set with Jacket, Trousers, Tie, Hat and dickey (sort of shirt) at RRP £18.43 this is great value for money as the detail on the costume is good. I did have to remind the boy that it is a costume, and not clothes in the proper sense otherwise I think he would wear it all the time. The costume is 100% polyester and is recommended as hand was only, I think a gentle machine cycle might be ok. We are both impressed with this costume, and the boy is very excited, explaining to all his friends, who he will be dressed as on World Book Day this year.
Perfect Party UK have a huge selection of outfits not just for children but also adults, as well as all the accessories you might need for a party. I have spent some time looking to see if there will be something suitable for our Halloween visit to Disney later in the year. I have a couple of costumes that might be just the thing, but as the boy wants to dress as a Ghostbuster, I might still have to get the sewing machine out! So if you haven’t planned your child’s costume yet or just want some party ideas have a look at the Perfect Party UK website. My favourite costume is this licensed Willy Wonka!
