With the long weekends, come the spring and summer weddings. I had a wedding of some good friends to look forward to. With nothing to wear, JD Williams came to my rescue. I live in Jeans and tunic tops and was not sure where to start. JD Williams have a great selection of dresses with items from occasion wear to everyday.
I was very hopeful that I would find something suitable for a spring wedding. I started with a few searches in the JD Williams online store and found I could narrow down my search by colour, size, style and even occasion. I had wanted a mid length flare dress and had a shortlist of about three. One stood out and despite it being a label I was not familiar with, it kept drawing my attention. JD Williams did have brands I had heard of, and plenty of choice.
The Nightingales dress that I ordered was perfect, and I chose to add the matching shawl as you never know with British weather. I love the cotton content, and the fit was very good. JD Williams also have a large range of shoes, and many come in extra width sizes. The first pair that I chose were too big. It seems that maybe my feet are shrinking. The second pair fitted like a glove and I have been very impressed with the fit, and style. I chose flats as there is so much standing to be done at a wedding, not to mention the dancing.
I love my Nightingales dress from JD Williams, and am looking forward to taking it on holiday later this month. I think the fit is superb, and great quality for the price. The shoes have been much admired and despite not breaking them in before my friends big day there was no rubbing. I can honestly say that I have been very impressed by my first online dress shopping experience. If I’m lucky enough to be invited to more weddings I know where I will be looking first.

The boy will be keeping warm this winter with Didriksons, and their 2016 winter range of kids clothing. We certainly don’t have the extreme conditions that they have in Sweden where Didriksons clothing is designed. This hasn’t stopped the boy from putting Didriksons to the test.
To say the boy is thrilled with the mason beanie is a slight understatement! I think it must be cool to own one, and he has been so happy that I have a problem getting him to remove it. I think if he could sleep in it he would. The quality of the beanie is lovely and you can tell it has good thermal qualities as he tells me how cosy the beanie is. The colour says dark lilac, I would say its more of a burgundy colour but this suits the boy and he loves it.
Keeping warm this winter will not be a problem for the boy with the Didriksons Theo coat, I love the thermal qualities and the quality of the coat. The boy now cycles to school each day and the longer length means even in the rain he stays mostly dry. The boy loves that there are plenty of pockets including a good size inside pocket which he can pop his beanie in. He also likes the thumb hole cuffs which stop the arms from riding up while he cycles.
Didriksons have a great range of coats, something for everyone. I love the quality and fit of their products and know that they will last and wear well. You can see exactly how waterproof or warm each product is from the useful website features tab. I love that 100% waterproof means that the boy wont come home soggy, and he is just super happy because he has a beanie, so it is win, win!

The Hana Multi Jacket comes in three colour combinations, Black, Dark Lilac, and Midnight Blue. In sizes 36-42 these translate to UK size 10-20. I have always bought one size up from my normal sizing so chose a size 38 which is a perfect fit and still allows me to wear a thick jumper underneath. The bonus of the Didriksons Hana jacket is that it is two coats in one, with a waterproof outer and insulated inner jacket.
I love this style of jacket for the British winters which can be unpredictable with wet warm weather or dry cold. Being able to unzip and remove the inner coat means I have great value for money by not having to buy two winter coats. I have been impressed with the quality of the Didriksons coat range and love the styling and detail on each of their coats. The Hana has a good range of features with the adjustable elastic at the hips and also on the hood which can be dethatched.
I love that Didriksons coats always have plenty of pockets, the Hana has a great outer pocket which is perfect for your mobile phone. The side pockets are both deep and have zips to keep valuable safe like keys. There are also inner pockets for those bits you might want to keep dry. Didriksons coats all come with STORMsystem fabric which offers 100% true waterproofness, something that has been invaluable on the walk to school. I can guarantee that it will rain between 3:15 and 3:30 when I collect the boy. Staying dry has been better than having to dash home to change clothes. Yes a Didriksons coat will keep all it covers dry, unlike some high street fashion brands that I have tried.
Didriksons have great styling and one thing that drew me to the Hana styling was the contrast coloured zips. I think this is a nice touch making the Hana Jacket stand out. Didriksons have a great range of all weather coats and Jackets for all the family to find your local stockist visit http://www.didriksons.com and be prepared #ForEveryRainyDay

BooHoo.com is a well-known online fashion retailer and have recently added Kids clothing to their range. They asked us to have a look, the boy wanted some new clothes so we thought we would give them a try. I ordered a selection of items from the Boys section which has clothing from ages 5-12 (although I was able to find some sized age 13) I chose some skinny jeans, High top trainers and 4 t-shirts in sizes 11-12 and 13.
The BooHoo.com website has plenty of offers, discounts, one day sales and free delivery. I was able to use a code for free next day delivery which was perfect for my impatient boy. The boy is starting to get more conscious of what he wears out of school, and has enjoyed trying out some of the BooHoo.com fashions. He particularly likes the cobweb print Tee. This came in handy for the Halloween party at cubs. The boy is not keen on dressing up so felt in the spirit with his spooky top, without feeling left out .
The boy was also impressed with the high top trainers. He said they were very trendy but took a bit of getting used to in the feel. I have been impressed with the selection and the price with Tee’s from £3 to £5. The high top trainers were £8, perfect for a fashion item that he will grow out of before he can wear them out.
The BooHoo.com jeans were a good quality the only problem we had was they don’t have an adjustable waist. You could use the online sizing guide (which I didn’t) as a guide to the correct size. I don’t usually shop online so this has been a lesson for me to take note next time. The boy tends to take a smaller sized trouser so there is some growing room in these size 11 jeans. The sizing for the rest of the clothing was good and I like that the website tells you the make up of the fabric so you have an idea of feel before ordering.
Overall the boy is thrilled with his new wardrobe additions. The trainers have seen good use, and the cobweb tee is a firm favourite. BooHoo.com have a fun constantly changing range of clothes perfect for my mini fashionista!

Love the sales is a website for people who love a bargain, or like me who don’t buy clothes unless they are on sale! I never seem to have the time to spend money on my clothes so tend to pick up bits and pieces as I see them. I was interested to find out more about the Love the Sales website, and see if I could find something in the Vera Moda Sale.
Using the website is easy, you don’t need an account and it isn’t a shop, you simply register an email, then fill in as much information or as little as you like. You can add your favourite labels and stores, with not just clothes but home and garden and pretty much everything in between. I thought about getting the boy something new, but he has more clothes than he wears, so instead thought I would treat myself.
Love the Sales was easy to use, and I soon found my way around, with some great bargains to be had. I live in Jeans so first stop was a new pair of dark denim skinnies. Love the Sales allows you to search for colours, sizes, labels so you only see the items that are available currently. I quickly found the right size and decided to choose some summer tops to complement my new trousers.
I chose a tunic sleeveless top with a high neck because I liked the pattern. A floaty summer tunic, plain green top and a rather nice cotton jumper for the chilly evenings. Because each item was on sale the total value of my clothing should have been £126.00 but cost just £58.00 saving me over 50%. Love the sales are not a shop so for each item you are redirected to order from a high street store or online retailer. Postage may be extra dependant on the store or collection options, but even taking this into account saving over 50% of the retail price is enough for me to keep my eyes peeled for more Love the Sales Bargains.
Didriksons are a Swedish company who make practical clothing for the whole family, keeping you protected from all the weather that Britain can throw at you! The boy has tried out waterproof coats and trousers from Didriksons and we were both impressed with how good they are. I thought it was about time I tried a Didriksons summer waterproof jacket and chose theLush Womens Jacket(RRP £140) in Bubblegum.
I must have been feeling brave to choose such a bright colour and the Didriksons Lush coat comes in a great chose of more subtle shades. I wanted a jacket that would be a little longer than waist length as I find on the school run when I do get caught in the rain I end up with a drip line across the top of my legs. The Didriksons range of coats come in different styles and lengths and a range of fun colours.
Didriksons Lush women’s jacket has lots of stylish and useful features. It is an unlined coat so has no warmth layer, but this makes it very practical for the summer as it is lightweight and not bulky to carry. I love all the little details and the Lush jacket has a few different adjustments at the waist and the hem to allow you to fit to your shape. There are also poppers at the cuffs to keep the water out. I selected a size larger than my normal sized clothes (something I have always done) and was pleased with the fit, I like to be able to add a jumper under a coat for those chilly evenings. I was impressed with the number of pockets. The main pockets have a soft lining and are nice and deep. There is an inside pocket possibly for maps or a wallet, and a neat hidden pocket between the outside poppers that you can easily keep your phone or iPod. This pocket even has a clever headphone gap so that you could listen to music while walking.
There have been plenty of opportunities on the school run for me to test out the waterproof nature of the Didriksons Lush jacket and have been pleased that I am staying dry. I found giving the jacket a quick shake, it dried off very quickly. The attached hood and high neck line means that the rain didn’t get into the neck of the coat either. I have had some lovely comments about the styling of the Didriksons Lush jacket, friends have also complimented me on the colour.
Didriksons range of waterproof clothing is available online as well as selected retailers in the UK, have a look at their Store Finder search to find your nearest stockist.

I came across Weird Fishclothing through a competition, and since entering I have received their weekly offers and e-mails. I was very excited when I was offered the chance to review for them. I love pretty casual clothing, and as a busy Mum I tend to find myself looking at clothes for the boy and not myself, so this is a real treat!
Choosing from the Weird Fish website was very difficult, not because they don’t have much, or the site is clunky! Quite the opposite, there were so many lovely items it was hard to narrow a choice down. When I found myself coming back to the same tunic dress, I knew it was the one to try. Ok I have said the word Dress! and anyone who knows me will say what? as I live in jeans and t-shirts. In my old job people thought there was something wrong if I wore a skirt, so a dress would be a shock.
The Phoebe Printed Stretch Tunic Dress featured in the Weird Fish sightseer spring outfits, and jumped out at me with its bold retro pattern as something I wouldn’t normally choose, but with such a lovely colour blend I was eager to give it a try.
The tunic dress turned up in a lovely little personalised package and I was surprised at how small the package was. The first thing I noticed was the material, it is cotton! I don’t usually shop online, as I like to feel material before making a purchase, this fabric was a big surprise. From the description and pictures I had thought the material would be a jersey or even synthetic mix. So 95% cotton with 5% elastine for stretch was a nice surprise. It will be lovely and cool and perfect for our holiday later in the year. It wasn’t even creased from its journey so I know it will wear well which is essential as I truly hate ironing.
A versatile printed tunic dress with a slight stretch. Features button detail on the capped sleeves, neckline and centre back, for a synched in shape. Can be worn as a dress or a tunic
I chose a size ten as I don’t have a large bust, and found that the sizing on the dress is very good. The Frost grey Phoebe print is also available in a tunic top and I think in this case I would have chosen an eight with the fabric stretching enough to fit snugly. The button detail is a lovely addition and gives enough shape to the tunic dress to add a few curves which I need. The print of the dress is lovely and just as I imagined with a nice mix of grey, pinks, yellows and blues and exactly as pictured on the website. The length feels good and I love the sweat heart styled neckline with button detail. Finally washing, I was pleased to see the label recommends a cool 30* machine wash, I get disappointed if a favourite item needs hand washing.
I have often admired friends wearing this style of dress with thick tights or leggings, I am not quite brave enough yet to bare my legs so went for dark jeans. I love the pre matched outfits section where you can see the Phoebe Printed Stretch Tunic Dress matched with dark slate leggings and a little green cardigan. (This will have to go on my holiday wish list).
The Phoebe Printed Stretch Tunic Dress costs RRP £39.95 which I think for the great quality and versatility of this dress is a superb price. In fact I have been surprised at the affordability of lots of the Weird Fish clothing. I have fallen in love with this print, and know that I will get plenty of wear from it, Now we just need some summer weather so that I can get some colour on my legs!
Why not pop along to the Weird Fish website as they have a great selection of Men’s and children’s clothing, currently they have an offer for a FREE poncho in the lovely Phoebe pattern when you order over £70. Postage is FREE for standard delivery in the UK or you might be lucky and have a store near you. I know I will be looking for some more great holiday staples next time I go near a Weird Fish store, and hope I can Escape the Ordinaryagain soon!

Didrikson are a Swedish company who have been around since 1913 and have a full range of both adult and children’s waterproof outerwear. The boy was asked to test out a coat and trouser set from the new and innovative adjustable range. With a few Cub hikes in the coming months I thought the boy would benefit from the chance to see if the Didrikson Nera Set would keep him warm and dry.
As I would expect with a clothing company from Sweden the Nera set of coat and trousers is extremely well made, with an outer water-repellent shell, breathable coating and lining. There are too many details to list on this set but include loops for attaching gloves, and soft lined cuffs, and not forgetting the reflective safety strips. The boy was instructed to put the Nera set through its paces. At first he was not all that impressed, “Yuck! its clothes” as you can see here, but after a bit of persuasion he tried them on.
The Didrikson Nera coat is a lovely shade of blue with a pattern called Pool waves, which at first I thought the boy might find too childish. He hasn’t said anything and actually the pattern is very neutral, so would suit girls or boys. The trousers are a dark navy with the addition of reinforced knees with a rubber textured material. These are a dungarees style and even though they looked huge, once the boy had adjusted the elastic braces fitted very well. I like the details of this set with adjustable under foot straps, high wasted and contrast elastic. The coat is zipped and poppered with a removable hood with a drip guard.
Having only ever purchased high street coats for the boy in the past, I know these are not always waterproof, or even windproof, but with the boy growing so quickly investing in full waterproof has not been an option till now. Didrikson have come up with the idea of extending the use of your coat and trouser sets with their hidden seam system. The arms and legs of this set each have a hidden tacked seam, in a contrast cotton it is easy to find and when the set starts to look a little shorter you can extend your use by releasing these seams. Children grow so fast, and this is a winning idea with me as I would want a coat to last at least one year, if not a little longer.
We had a long discussion about how to test the water-proofing of the Didrikson Nera coat set, and decided squirting the boy with a hose was not the best option. Some ideas included water rides, but it was decided a cub hike would possibly be more enjoyable. The boy set off all zipped up on a sunny spring evening, complete with hard-boiled egg. The experiment for the evening was going to be who could roll their egg down the hill without breaking the shell. Ok the boy didn’t manage to keep his egg undamaged but he did manage to get the award for the furthest rolled! The prize we got to bring the aptly named ‘smeg egg’ home. Nice!
The Didrikson Nera set fared well, the boy was dry, and kept warm as the evening had turned chilly. The trousers have shown signs of muddy puddles, but this easily brushed off. The coat is still looking new, and the boy has been wearing it everyday in the hope that it might rain. He even offered to wear the set to bed to test it out! I’m not sure this was needed so we have stuck to daytime wear.
I have been very impressed with both the quality and wearability of the Didrikson Nera set, and would consider investing the RRP £80 when the boy finally grows out of this one. But we will keep you updated as to how we get on when we extend the legs and arms later on in the year!
To find your local Didrikson stockist, or purchase online follow the link to the Didrikson website, they also have a Facebook page where you can find out more about the story behind the firm.
