I am going to Brit Mum’s Live

I am going to Brit Mum’s Live in just under two weeks, and when I booked it months ago it seemed like a good idea. Now that it is getting closer the butterflys have started to kick in. I am very much looking forward to meeting up with my gang of blogging mums, and the lovely hotel which we are all staying in looks amazing. I just hope I make it safely across London with my luggage, and that I don’t loose my way to the venue. I am looking forward to a fun filled weekend with hopefully lots of laughter, and adult conversation something I miss being a SAHM.

So here I am:

Name: Tina, yep just 4 letters to remember!

Blog: The Soup Dragon Says

Twitter ID: @thesoupdragon44

Height: 5ft 8

Hair: Long blonde, with a horrid hint of grey, which might look like I have been through a hedge backwards depends on how much sleep I get!

Eyes: Blue.

Is this your first blogging conference? Yes

Are you attending both days?  Yes, I didn’t think there was any other option!

What are you most looking forward to at BritMums Live 2014? I think that would have to be meeting up with my blogging Mum friends, safety in numbers. Its a shame there are a couple who cant come, we will have to have a toast to absent friends.

What are you wearing? Well as of today something nice, wait and see… but it will be comfy and I just need to add some shoes.

What do you hope to gain from BritMums Live 2014? I am hoping to get an insight into some new skills, improving my content, and maybe even finding my niche which seems to be evading me. Some of the inspirational speakers look interesting, and as long as I can get a piece of cake from somewhere I will be happy.

Do you have any tips to pass on to others who may not have been before? I think the only thing I know is comfy shoes are a must it looks like a long, hot busy day!

Bloggers night in

When it was suggested that I meet up with my blogging pals for a Bloggers Night In, I was more than a little nervous. But I needn’t have worried as genuinely they are the nicest bunch of people. Once I had committed to collecting two other blogging mum’s, there was no turning back as I would never want to leave them stranded.
So despite the clash with the boys yearly fencing competition I set off on what turned out to be a bit of an epic road trip. First stop Southampton, collection of my two passengers, The Life of Spicers and Fiona, Mummy’s Little Stars then off up the A34 to meet our lunch stop at Mary, Over 40 and Mum to One.

With road closures and detours lunch became a mid afternoon snack but with Mary at the helm we were soon at our destination in plenty of time for our bloggers night in. Thanks to our host Eileen, ET Speaks from Home for putting us up and setting out an amazing spread.

Welcomed by, Pippa, Red Rose Mummy, Jenny, The Brick Castle, Zoe, My Mummies World,  Tami, Mummy of Two, Anna, In the Playroom the group was complete. Time to get the party started. With so much new food and drink to try, I found it a bit daunting but with Eileen at the helm we got tucked in. Starting with snacks like Pop chips and Ryvita thins, olives, dips with tenderstem brocoli. Cocktails, wine and shloer for the softies (Anna and I) We had Domino’s pizza, with Christmas gifts, cake fun and fantastic goodie-bags. Fun games like Who wants to be a millionaire, I can’t believe how many new products I have to try out over the next few weeks. But the best part was meeting my new friends, who now feel like old friends. All to soon it was time to get some rest before our Frankie and Benny’s breakfast and our trip home.
I had a lovely weekend in Birmingham, it was so nice to finally put faces to all my blogger friends and I hope it wont be too long before I meet up with them again.

This is such a nice picture, and I usually hate pictures with me in them, but genuinely they are a nice bunch of very inspiring ladies. Thank You all!

Getting ready for the weekend

Getting ready for the weekend is not something that I have had to think about for some time. This weekend however is my blogger Mums Night In, sort of Christmas party for people who I only know online. This is not something I would have even considered doing a year ago, happy in my 9-5 office based job with a local charity. But these people have been a bit of inspiration, and something I think I needed. Without all their help, support and the odd ear bending session I would not be where I am now.

Where is that…

Considering how long it will take me to drive to Southampton to collect two strangers (and lots of wine and chocolate) then drive north to Oxford for the baton handover and final leg to Birmingham. The mixture of apprehension and excitement of meeting most of these people for the first time, even though they feel like old friends. Finally hoping I don’t disgrace myself, as I have been threatened with sleeping in the bath.

I know my blog has been very quiet this week, but with the hospital appointments, decorating, Christmas shopping, school productions, after school fencing, steel band rehearsals for our Caribbean concert which is tonight! I just don’t seem to have enough hours in the day. But watch out next week, as I have some great giveaways, more games, fun craft ideas, decorating tips and plenty of food reviews.

Now I just need to find some more hours in the day…

Here are a great bunch of Mums, who have all helped me in one way or another. (In no particular order!)

Mary, Zoe, Fiona, Angela, Anthea, Pippa, Jenny, Eileen, Tami, Laura, Kelly, Anna

yes that it’s the lucky 13!

My tablet ate my post!

I like my new tablet, its not a huge expensive one but it does the job. I think it is something I am still getting used too but it is more than annoying when it ate my post last week.

I had taken it to after school club and written two great posts, off line I thought they were safe. Then get home and ping add a photo to one and the other vanished…

Note to self, remember to back up locally before uploading… Have you ever lost a post you were really pleased with?
