Bubble Bum Booster Seat -Review

Bubble Bum Booster Seat is a great product, and one I have been truly impressed by! from the moment I saw the fun packaging and cleaver design. I thought it was a product worthy of Dragons Den, when I found out that it has already featured on the Irish version of the show, it was no surprise.

Bubble Bum has already won its fair share or awards, and in my opinion rightly so. This booster seat is going to be perfect for our  holiday and removes some of the worry for parents traveling abroad with kids. Despite the boy being 9 now, he is still too short to be traveling in a car without some form of booster seat. The Bubble bum is perfect to give him the extra height to fit the seat belt properly, and despite the boys initial reluctance to want to try out the Bubble Bum he has found it a very comfy car seat.

Bubble Bum car seats are available directly from the website as well as Halford stores for RRP £29.99. With all the relevant safety testing, (United Nations ECE Regulation R44/04 for safety for both Groups 2 and 3) handy carry bag, and positioning clips. Bubble Bum is possible better than my current heavy plastic booster seat. The Bubble Bum has a simple twist valve, making it easy to inflate and deflate even for someone with little puff, and weighs just 0.5kg when deflated.

The boy said that he thought at first that the Bubble Bum might pop under his weight, I told him this is unlikely, and he should give it a try. He found it super comfy and the only thing he was not so happy about are the seat belt clips. I think the clips are great as you know the Bubble bum is not going to move whilst in use. Younger children might not be able to undo the clips, but the boy had only a little problem with them, and once used to them no problem at all.

Bubble Bum

The Bubble Bum booster seat comes in some great colours, neon, pink, and the cool black which we chose with a silver piping which is a great touch and matches my car seat. Bubble Bum is suitable for kids aged 4 – 11 weighing 15kg to 36kg, and is perfect not just for holidays but short trips, or even packing the boy off with his grandparents. The video on the Bubble Bum website shows how versatile the seat is especially useful if you have to pick up friends for an after school play date, or even just for a short trip in a taxi.

fitting the Bubble Bum car seat

I have been so impressed with the Bubble Bum, that I have been showing it to some of the Mums, I have always been thoughtful of when the boy travels in cars as having had a small car accident before the boy was born I know how important seatbelts and car safety are. The Bubble Bum is already for its holiday to Florida in a months time, and I have popped it in the suitcase already, and I know even though the boy is at the top end of using a booster it will be a very useful seat, maybe even replacing the one in my car which is used for short journeys.

Find out more about Bubble Bum on their website, Facebook page, Twitter and other social media or have a look and see how Bubble Bum inventor Grainne Kelly did on Dragons Den for yourself.

I is for…

I is for…
Well that’s is where I got stuck, I have been thinking for the last 24 hours what I has meant to me and I just came up blank. I decided there was only one way to find a picture and that would be to fire up my external hard drive, and have a look at all the old baby pictures for inspiration.

With only 106 days till we leave for our Florida Holiday, I was again drawn to the many folders of Disney pictures. They all bring back so many happy memories of our last trip. There has been lots of talk about the trip this week as I have just paid the final invoice and it seems all that more real. Defiantly more real than it did when I booked the trip a year ago! So with my head full of pictures I have chosen this one of the boy, to me it shouts Imagination. The one word that Disney has been built on, something the boy has bucket loads of, and I hope he manages to keep hold into adulthood. For most of the holiday the Polar bear travelled with us and had to have its photo taken, the boy wasn’t afraid to be a bit different and use his imagination. He was 6, and doesn’t remember much from the holiday, I am hoping the memories from our trip in October will last a little bit longer, and that he will take his imagination and see where it leads him.

180 days till Disney

Today marks 180 days till our Disney holiday, and while this is not an important day in most people calendar it is in our house. Today will be the first of the days where I can start to make dining reservations on my My Disney Experience, and I have a couple of special reservations planned.

If like us you haven’t been to Walt Disney World Florida for a while, things have changed in the parks. With the removal of the ticketing for Fastpass, and change over to the new Fastpass+ system. I have been reading up on the new system and am both curious about the new Magic Band and Fastpass system as it potentially will make the holiday more tailored to our family. While there is some apprehension as to how easy the system will be to use while on site.

Disney 2010

Magic Bands have been phased in across the parks for about a year now and I have read with interest both the positive and negative reactions from guests on various forums. Yes I really do go into that much detail on my Walt Disney World planning. I have found in the past, having an idea of how the systems work allowed us to make the most of the 14 days on site. Some people may like to have a more laid back nature to their break, but when we go I fill our time as I am never quite sure if we will be able to return.

Disney 2011

So if like me you like to plan then don’t forget to look on the Walt Disney World website as park hours are released 180 days prior to your trip. I like to have a calendar with a rough idea of which parks on which days. If only to utilise the extra magic hours for guests staying in Disney hotels. Another good source of information is Dis Unplugged, they have twitter and Facebook pages for all the latest information. This will of course include the launch of the new Seven Dwarfs mine train, scheduled for live testing in the next few weeks. Moms panel is also a great forum for getting answers to your particular questions from people in the know and Mums who are used to planning their Disney Holidays. I know I have used them in the past for information on taking the boy when he was smaller.

disney christmas 2011

This might be the boys last visit to Walt Disney World, I hope not but at 9 I would guess he might be too old in future years for the magic and fun of my favourite place to holiday. I know Disney is not for everyone, and would love for everyone to go to a place that makes me feel special, and safe!

Whether you plan the heck out of your visit or like to go with the flow, I hope you have a fantastic time full of some very special memories, I know we have our share of them.

Disney Florida #Flashback Friday

I have been enjoying joining in with Flashback Friday for the past few weeks and this weeks picture was one I came across while looking for something else in one of my Photo files. It makes me smile each time I see it for so many reasons. The first is the cheeky grin, but when you see the other photos with it you realise that he was being instructed by the photographer so that she could get him to pose in a certain way.

Ok, so the story behind the picture is that we were on the boys first trip to Florida, one we had been planning since I was pregnant, so 5 years. One we had dreamt about, and just couldn’t wait. We were married in Florida and have been lucky at this point to be making trip number 4 to Disney.

So the weather, well imaging the weather we have just been having with rain and storms every 4 days, water ankle-deep and constant for over 10 hours each day! Not what you expect in Florida, and not the holiday we were expecting. This picture is special then for two reasons the first, its wasnt raining when it was taken. The second it was Mothers Day (in the UK) not the US and my boy, and Hubby had a special treat meal booked.

disney florida

This is Main Street with Cinderella’s Castle, and the boy who loved shirts and ties is in my favourite of his outfits, which I bought for him at Christmas. He posed so well for each of the shots, and we had no clue what she was up too. This was our first experience of some of the special effects they add to your pictures.

Tinkerbell!! Yes the boy was less than impressed, “She’s a fairy!” “I wasn’t holding her!” but she is in the picture and then 4 1/2 he couldn’t work out quite how she got there!

Priceless moment, and with just 200 days till visit number 6 for us 3 for the boy, one of the things I will be booking in advance is my Disney Photo pass. just for the moments like this that I get to keep forever.

Push has gone!

Push has gone and this has made me very sad, infact the whole family are a little sad about Push leaving. I can all hear you saying that I have gone a little mad! well yes in a way I have mad at Disney for removing one of the quirky little pieces of magic from the Magic Kingdom.

When I saw the first rumours of this iconic little trash can due to be axed, I didn’t want to believe it and at the time I didn’t know his name was Push. After a couple of days the rumours were denied by Disney who said they had no foundation and that Push would continue to entertain family’s in his Tommorowland residence.

GalleryV1_MK-47

For those of us luck enough to have visited Disney World In Florida and meat Push, he will remain a truly magical character. Not that he has stared in any film, or appeared on tv. He has still entertained us, I will remember the look on the boys face when Push first talked to the boy. The boy was 4 1/2 when we went the first time, we had had awful bad luck with the weather, and this particular day it was dry. We were eating a snack and as you do pop your trash in the bin. This is something the boy toddled off to do, so when the bin started chatting to him and said thank you, you can imagine the look. In all of the 6 visits I have made this was the first time we had met Push, and we sat for some time watching his antics as he lay in wait for unsuspecting passers by. I was looking forward to our visit in October, and hoped our paths would cross, but it seems that Disney may have decided otherwise.

DisneyPhotoImage104

There are campaigns on the internet of course, but I think this little bit of magic will be resigned to the hearts of those who were privileged enough to meet Push on their holidays. Push is a special Trash can who will be thought of fondly by all that met him!

Disney’s 101 Dalmatians

Zavvi sent us Disney’s 101 Dalmatians on DVD to watch over the Christmas break so last week we settled down on a wet and windy Sunday with our popcorn to watch this classic animation. The boy is familiar with some of  the characters from this film as I guess we all are but he has never watched the film, so it was interesting to see what he thought.

101 Dalmatians is a story of a Pongo and his hunt to find his owner Roger a wife. Pongo meets Perdita another Dalmatian and together they get their owners Roger and Anita to fall in love. Soon the family has grown in number 15 to be exact and life couldn’t be better. We all know that they soon attract the attention of the evil villain Cruella de vil and her hench men who kidnap the dogs. 101 Dalmatians is a fun if a little dark at time film and a classic from my childhood. The story of course has a happy ending as well as the memorable songs.

We love all things Disney in the soup dragon house and this film is no exception. The boy liked and is happy as he has his very own dalmatian slippers which Bingo Granny bought him for christmas, so now they are named after the characters from the film.

Zavvi have lots of classic DVD’s as well as some great Disney steelbooks on their website many on offer, so why not have a look and see if there is a film to entertain you on a wet Sunday evening!

Disclaimer we were sent a copy of this DVD to review and keep the opinions remain our own and have not been altered.

Only 300 Days until Disney

Only 300 days until we land in Disney, Disneyland Florida for our long-awaited holiday and return to the Halloween merriment! You may have guessed that I am starting to get a little excited, otherwise my mind would be completely on Christmas. I am sure that at some point it will be reminded that the holiday is getting nearer, it might be the smell of gingerbread, or even a hidden mickey!

I think the boy and Dad M get fed up with me as I know exactly how many days to go, I think it slightly ironic that it is exactly 300 on Christmas day as I remember when I booked the holiday, 150 something days ago it seemed impossible that it would ever get here. The boy will have a nice surprise from a friend as we have the hidden mickey book as a Christmas gift ready to read every page before we go, or is that just me?

I can’t wait for the sunshine, or for the boy to join me on all the rides as he will be tall enough this visit, even for my favourite Yeti ride! I am looking forward to the resort, and I wonder what tropical island we will be staying on. I’m looking forward to the late nights, fireworks and breakfast of mickey waffles and strawberries.

The more I type this the more I am looking forward to, like family pictures, Ghirardelli Ice cream, the Lego Shop. Even places we have yet to visit like the Kennedy Space Center, which I know the boy will love. I cant wait to try out the new Magic Kingdom Quest, as we loved the Kim Possible one at Epcot. The boy of course will want to spend hours on Big Thunder mountain, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

And now I just need to win the lottery so that we can go and visit the dolphins again, it was not a good day for the boy as he doesn’t do cold, unfortunately that particular day Florida decided it was doing cold!

So while we all tuck in to our turkey with all the trimmings, there will be a small bit of me looking forward to that flight in just 300 days time!

Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room

For those of you who haven’t been lucky enough to get to Disney World Florida, or the other parks. I wanted to share this little jem with you.

I will always have very special memories of this particular attraction, and possibly not for the reasons you may first think. I first took my son aged 4 1/2 and this was his favourite show. I lost count of how many time we went in. We had some very unseasonable weather and this ride had indoor queuing a blessing when you are soaked to the bone and cold. Yes I know that seems wrong for Florida but believe me it rained, proper English 6 hours of rain!
So I just hope that if we get to go back we get to see the singing birds again.

Happy Birthday Disneyland Paris

I was 21 when I first went to Disneyland Paris. It had only just opened and it was my first trip on an aeroplane, and to a foreign country! It was my birthday gift from my boyfriend now husband, and after 21 years this year we will get to return. I have been getting quite excited reading about all the new rides, and attractions, and know we will have a fantastic time!

So happy Birthday Mickey and friends…
Here is a great blog about how the park has changed over the years

Disney Park bench moment, on the way out…

A new park bench moment, this one makes me feel a little sad as it is the end of the day view as you slowly wander back to your hotel.
